About the course
The Specialized High School Admissions Test, more commonly known as the SHSAT, is a standardized test given in Fall of 8th grade that acts as a criterion for acceptance into the 8 specialized high schools. These schools are not specialized because they serve students who excel academically, but that the environment within these schools motivates students to work hard and challenge themselves.
New York Academy's SHSAT Prep program pushes students to exactly that -- challenging coursework and self-motivation. The course begins by familiarizing students with the general exam curriculum. After completion of the entire curriculum, students will take several mock exams and learn strategies configured to match each of their strengths and weaknesses. Curriculums are adjusted annually to accommodate for changes made to the English and Math sections of the actual exam.
